Glyn Edwards, who is also known by the yoga/spiritual name Devadasa, was born in Liverpool and prefers to have no labels, unless it be a spirituality without boundaries. He is internationally recognised as one of the UK’s greatest mediums/sensitives and teachers of Spiritual and Psychic Science, and has worked as an intuitive and transpersonal seer for over thirty years. He joined a Benedictine community at sixteen, which intensified not only his spiritual consciousness, but also his psychic and mediumistic awareness and knowledge, and subsequently led him back into the world.
He was a protégée of one of the UK’s most famous and finest mediums, Gordon M Higginson, and worked on a variety of projects with him over many years. Glyn has also travelled extensively, speaking, lecturing, demonstrating and running workshops worldwide. He owes much of his early work to Jean Matheson, a longtime friend and organiser of numerous events and courses in the North of England, who sat for him in a highly productive development circle and helped him to gain confidence in his abilities.
He is one of the founding fathers of the Gordon Higginson Fellowship, which runs regular inspiring and excellent courses in England, and is a regular senior course tutor at the Arthur Findlay College (a college for the Study and Advancement of Psychic Science). He has also worked regularly at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain and has been involved with the research of PRISM (Psychical Research Involving Selected Mediums).
Glyn possesses extensive understanding of various spiritual paths, and frequently invites revered teachers from related disciplines, such as the highly revered Yoga Master, co-author of The House of Wisdom and longtime friend Swami Dhamananda Saraswati Maharaj, to share their discoveries and work with students on his courses.
He is particularly known for the quality of his work and his ability to demonstrate it almost effortlessly in front of large audiences. He is also respected for his understanding of, and insight into, different areas of mediumistic unfoldment and his devotion to helping students to explore and to realise their individual potential.
In 2003 he made the front page of Psychic News (which he has done many times in his mediumistic life) after being struck-down by a mystery virus. Since then he has shown how determination and the power of the Spirit can overcome adversity. Remarkably many have testified that his work and his teachings have moved to a deeper level. He has also found this chapter in his life has opened up many profound insights and experiences that are continually expanding his amazing spiritual vision.
He has been interviewed on television and radio throughout the world, recorded many teachings and practices, and written numerous articles on Mediumistic and Wholistic Spirituality and co-authored two highly praised development manuals with the respected spiritual writer and ex New Wave bass player of The Wasps, Santoshan (Stephen Wollaston): Tune in to your Spiritual Potential and Unleash your Spiritual Power and Grow (published by Foulsham/Quantum Books). Glyn is also extensively featured in two in-depth interviews in a new book by Santoshan: Reams of Wondrous Gifts - Psychic, Mediumistic and Miraculous Powers in the Great Wisdom Traditions (published by the Gordon Higginson Fellowship in 2008).
Additionally, Glyn has become increasingly drawn to the teachings and great masters of the East – although Indian and yogic wisdom have always been a source of nourishment for him – particularly the Dalai Lama, Ramana Maharshi, Sri Aurobindo and one of his prime exponents, M. P. Pandit, with whom he once had a private audience in Pondicherry. Swami Dharmananda, whose main guru was Trivadi Ramachandra (a one-time secretary to Mahatma Gandhiji), has also become a great source of wisdom and help in Glyn’s spiritual life and search, who is the yogi who officially gave him the name of Devadasa, which means ‘servant of God’. As well as being intitiated into her tradition and given various practices, he has also undertaken instruction from the renowned Tantric Master Sri Jammu Maharaj, who he frequently saw until 2004 (the year of Sri Jammu’s passing) with co-author Santoshan and Swamiji. Along with Eastern spirituality and wisdom, Glyn has for many years been inspired by the teachings and insights of Earnest Holmes, the founder of Science of Mind, and finds much food for spiritual replenishment in the inspiring and all-inclusive works of Matthew Fox (the world renowned advocate of Creation Centred Spirituality).
